What is Interrail & Eurail?
The Interrail or Eurail Pass is a train ticket valid in 33 European countries.
The key distinction between the two passes is that Interrail is for European citizens and residents, while Eurail is for travelers from outside of Europe.
The passes are personal and cannot be transferred to another person. You can choose between two types of passes:
- Continuous Pass: Valid for unlimited travel over a set number of consecutive days.
- Flexi Pass: Allows a certain number of travel days within a specified period.

Booking a seat reservation
Interrail and Eurail are valid on Snälltåget, but you must book and pay for a seat reservation to travel with us.
How to book:
- Go to the online booking (at the top of the page or on the homepage) and select your travel date.
- At the bottom of the page, under the traveller selection, check the box "I have an Interrail or Eurail Pass."
- To book a seat reservation, you must have a valid Interrail or Eurail Pass.
- You can only book one-way trips with Interrail or Eurail.
- If travelling as a group, book all seats at the same time.

Travelling with Interrail or Eurail on night trains
Our night trains to Hamburg and Berlin to Denmark and Sweden provide an excellent connection to and from your adventure. We also offer seasonal departures from Austria to Denmark and Sweden.
Important information for night train travel with the Interrail or Eurail Global Pass:
- You must book a seat reservation for the departure you wish to travel on (see instructions at the top of this page).
- The entire journey must take place within the validity period of your Interrail or Eurail Pass.
- If you are travelling with a Global Flexi Pass, you must enter the start date of your night train journey as one travel day. Your Interrail or Eurail Pass will then be valid for the entire journey from the start date until you disembark the train the following day.
How to use your Interrail or Eurail Mobile Pass
1. Download the Rail Planner App
- Start by downloading the latest version of the Rail Planner app from the App Store or Google Play.
2. Add your pass
- Open the app and go to My Pass. Tap "Add your Pass."
- Enter your last name and Pass number (found in your confirmation email).
- Be precise: both fields are case-sensitive, and extra spaces can cause errors.
- You can add multiple Passes to one device, but group travelers must stick together if using one device.
3. Connect a trip
- Create a new trip in the app or select an existing one.
- Each Pass needs its own trip. If managing multiple Passes, you can duplicate trips to simplify planning.
4. Activate your pass
- Add your passport or ID details and select your start date.
- Activation can be done up to the day of travel but must be completed before boarding your first train.
5. Plan and add journeys
- Use the app’s planner to search for train times.
- Save journeys to your trip and add them to your Pass when ready to travel.
6. Show your ticket
- Tap "Show Ticket" in My Pass for inspectors to scan. Ensure your ID matches the one linked to your Pass.
- For multiple travelers, show each ticket individually when using the same device.

Start your adventure with Snälltåget’s seasonal night train from Austria to Denmark and Sweden! On our trains to and from Austria, Interrail and Eurail is valid for travel in a seat and on select departures, you can also book a berth or private compartment.
